If you've noticed those commercials for cars, clothes and perfume seem a little familiar, it's because some of your favorite directors are behind the camera. They're using their blockbuster skills to generate brick and mortar sales. Bradley Hasemeyer has the top three Hollywood heavyweight commercials.
1. Wes Anderson
His signature style is close-ups and quirkiness as seen in The Royal Tennebaums, which helped make him a mainstream success. No stranger to funky and fun, H&M brought that Anderson charm to the small screen. The "Come Together” commercial stars Adrian Brody as a charming train conductor and the four minute cheer filled ride has racked up nearly 10 million views on YouTube.
2. Sofia Coppola
Besides being the daughter of famed director Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia found her fame by directing the critically acclaimed Lost in Translation. Fashion juggernaut Dior translated Coppola’s talent into a successful perfume campaign for Blooming Bouquet staring Natalie Portman. The popular spot has left Dior smelling like roses.
3. Neill Blomkamp
This South African director’s trademarks are dark humor and hard hitting action. His hit movies District 9 and Chappie have earned him a cult following, which is exactly why BMW chose him to promote their new M4 sports sedan. The 13 minute short film he directed for BMW stars Clive Owen and Dakota Fanning. Enjoy the fast cars, explosions and Blomkamp-esque cinematography!
