Two men were struck by a car while they were changing a tire on West Sanilac Road near Germania Road in Lamotte Township Wednesday, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office.
One of the men, 22, died from the crash while the other, a 21-year-old, is at the hospital in stable condition.
Police say a westbound 2005 Ford Explorer, driven by a 33-year-old man from Sandusky, struck the two men that were changing a tire on the shoulder of the westbound lane. Police say the men appeared to be in the roadway when they were struck.
A third person was standing behind the vehicle, a 2010 Ford Fusion, while the other two men were changing the tired. that person was not injured.
Police say the Fusion had a defective tail light and did not have its four-ways on when the accident occurred.
Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the crash is under investigation.
