It's the opening day of the North American International Auto Show and the event kicked off with the announcement of the 2016 North American Car and Truck of the Year.
The Car of the Year is the Honda Civic. The finalists included the Chevrolet Malibu and Mazda MX-5 Miata.
The Truck of the Year is the Volvo XC90. Truck finalists include the Honda Pilot and Nissan Titan XD.
A jury of 53 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada vote on vehicles considering innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value.
Last year, the Volkswagen Golf and Ford F-150 were named Car and Truck of the Year.
