The city of mason is cracking down on overgrown properties.

Posted

Tuesday, the city released a public notice of prohibited vegetation aimed at stopping large growth that could impact safety.

Going forward, property owners or occupants are required to keep vegetation from growing higher than eight inches.

City officials will notify the owner or post on the premises if a property is breaking the ordinance.

If they aren't removed, property owners could be billed for clean up efforts.

This does not apply to trees, flower gardens, or agricultural crops.
