JACKSON, Mich — A fire just south of Jackson ravaged Thayer Marine Wednesday morning.
Firefighters from multiple area fire departments battled the blaze as police diverted traffic from US-127 at Floyd Avenue and Hart Road.

Smoke could be seen billowing from the building from the roadblocks.
By early afternoon, demolition of the heavily damaged structure was underway.
Summit Township Fire Department Captain Todd Moore says the fire appeared to have spread from the back of the building and that it remains under investigation.
