LANSING, Mich — The Lansing Fire Department has appointed Kevin Neely as its new assistant chief.
Neely, who joined the department in 2004, has served in several leadership roles, including acting battalion chief, captain and paramedic in the Operations Division. The department said those positions helped him build experience in personnel management, organizational leadership and operational effectiveness.
In addition to his work with the department, Neely has served as an instructor for Lansing Community College’s Firefighter I & II and Fire Science programs. He has also worked as a county coordinator and supports the Lansing School District’s Firefighter I & II program at Hill Academy.
“The Lansing Fire Department continues to move ahead with strong, steady leadership with Chief Neely joining Fire Chief Edwards-Clemons and fellow Assistant Chief Odom,” Mayor Andy Schor said in a statement. “Working together and investing in the talent we have serving our community is one of the most effective ways to strengthen our public safety team. Chief Neely has demonstrated exceptional professionalism and leadership, and his appointment is a testament to the strength of developing leaders from within LFD.”
Neely will begin serving full-time as assistant chief on Aug. 10.
