LANSING, Mich. — Have you updated your iPhone yet? If not, you may think twice. After hearing about all the problems owners are reporting with the newest updates: 12.1.1 and the just released 12.1.2.

Apple’s newest iPhone and iPad update is getting rave reviews from many users....as it improves security and fixes a number of frustrating problems. But owners of some older iPhones are not very happy at all.

Regina Horton has a little problem with her iPhone. "yeah, you can see no service up at the top." Actually, it’ s a big problem. "it said no service, that my phone couldn’t make calls." It all happened when she upgraded her older iPhone 5s to Apple’s newest operating system, IOS 12.1.1. So this former high school technology teacher then tried to manually download the update.

"Everything was fine, looked like everything was going through, and in the process it aborted." Now it only works on WIFI which also means all calls fail. "see it just goes back."

But it’s not just people with older iPhones having problems. Some people with newer phones like 7's and 8's are reporting data drain issues to the point where they have to go onto wifi.

Regina then went to a "ubreakifix" phone repair shop, where she says their techs tried everything but "they were unable to fix it, but it was a software problems and i would have to contact apple."

The tech site gotta be mobile.com says update issues include:

  • Abnormal battery or data drain.
  • Problems with touch id.
  • And connectivity issues.

FORBES magazine calls Regina's problem a “nasty surprise”. So what can you do? If you have problems, go to ITUNES and look for the "restore" feature to roll back to an older version. Meanwhile FORBES suggests holding off if you have older phone, until Apple gets all the bugs out.

If you have problems with an update try to roll your phone back to the previous version, which you should be able to do so you don't waste your money.
