The tone on both sides of the table at Fiat Chrysler and on the union side is similar to what was said at Ford and General Motors.

The ceremonial handshake opened talks at FCA this afternoon.

UAW President Gary Jones says all of the Big 3 are making record profits and the union is seeking to reverse cuts in benefits, job loss, wage loss outsourcing and more.

On the management side, FCA North America CEO Mark Stewart used a tone of partnership and caution with the future of building new electric and self-driving vehicles.

Both sides talked about the new FCA plant being built on Detroit’s east side, the first in three decades. The $4.5 Billion investment will mean 5,000 jobs.
