Mary Free Bed came up with a solution to help their patients who -like so many others right now- have spent days without visits from loved ones; a key component in recovery and rehabilitation.
Patients and staff put favorite quotes or a simple 'hello' in the windows.
The CDC says the rehab facility falls under the same umbrella as nursing homes according to their guidelines there can be no visitors until danger from the COVID-19 pandemic has passed.
Some of the messages are funny, like "Wake up, wash hands, work hard, repeat!" Some are supportive and hopeful; "Where there is life there is hope!"
There are over 40 patents in the Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Program whose loved ones need hope and connection just as much as they do.
“It’s heartbreaking that patients can’t see family during this time,” Says Brenna Gallagher, Recreational Therapist, who helped organize the messages. “This project means the world to me, that I can help make a small difference in the lives of these patients.”
Mary Free Bed gave FOX 17 pictures of the messages and said the staff and patients are all working together to keep spirits high.
