The Battle Creek teenager who survived a shooting rampage in Kalamazoo earlier this year will celebrate Halloween in Superhero fashion. Abbie Kopf will be dressed as Batgirl.

Abbie was 14 when she was shot in the head on February 20, 2016. The teen has had to endure a lot of setbacks in her recovery over the past few months. She has been in and out of the hospital. Doctors first installed a plate in her skull, but that had to be removed after an infection. Abbie then had to wear a helmet to protect her head.

In spite of it all, Abbie continued to smile. She celebrated her 15th birthday Sunday with hundreds of people posting well wishes on her Facebook page. Abbie's family says she has to wait a few more months before she can get her skull replacement put in.

However, there is good news: Abbie will now be able to go to school three days out of the week, and she was given a new therapy pig named Snuffles.
