"They're bright, and they light up the night sky," 6-year old Amelia said.
She and her playmate Winton Landis (also 6) have differing opinions about what makes fireworks great.
"They make big sounds, and they scare you," Winton countered.
Both agreed that they like to see them around Independence Day, and want a show in Williamston this year on July 3.
"I really like them," Amelia said.
After a pause, Winton agreed. "Me too," he said.
This year, the church that normally hosts the show, First Baptist Church, can't afford to because it is remodeling and having a big celebration for its 175th anniversary. It is still willing to host the event, if someone else pays for the fireworks.
The Williamston Chamber of Commerce took up the challenge, and started taking donations online, here.
Jim Wheeker just moved to Williamston in December, but says he would happily donate to the cause. "Just to give something back to the community," he said. "Whatever I can do to make that successful, I'd like to try to contribute, for sure."
By Monday night, people had donated $1,400, but the Chamber of Commerce needs $5,500 by Wednesday to make the show happen.
"Williamston is a really special place, and it's a great place to raise a family," Williamston Middle School Principal Scott Martin said. "If something needs to be done like raising money for fireworks, Williamston will come together and do it."
