Posted

The "National Night Out" will be taking place tonight in neighborhoods throughout Lansing.

Most cities and towns hosted the festivities last Tuesday, but Lansing's was delayed because of the primary election.

"National Night Out" is a crime prevention program that emphasizes partnerships between the police and the community.

21 neighborhoods across the city are holding events like block parties and cookouts.

Mayor Virg Bernero, Police Chief Micheal Yankowski and the Lansing Fire Department will be attending many of those.

Festivities start at 6 p.m.
