Keeping your pet safe during fireworks

Posted

The Ingham County Animal Shelter warns that dogs can become stressed out, and frightened by fireworks. The loud noise, nights, and excitement can make them frantic and disoriented.

The best thing they say you can do for your dog is to keep your pet at home, and indoors. Give them a place to hide, so they can feel safe. You can put on the radio or television to help distract them from the sound of the fireworks.

Make sure your pet has their identification on them, and that the contact information is up to date. If they do escape, call the animal shelter, or even go there to look for them.
