According to the USDA we throw away 30-40% of our food supply here in the United States so. Lindsey Granger has three apps to help you never waste again.
1. Is My Food Safe?
This free app is your companion in the kitchen. It gives you immediate access to cooking temperature guidelines, details on how long to keep leftovers and helps you find the closest dietitian in your area. A registered dietitian can help cut through the clutter of confusing nutrition advice.
2. FoodKeeper App
This app helps you understand food and beverage storage. Since each person wastes about 36 pounds of food per month, the Department of Agriculture created the app to give tips on how to make things last longer. You can find storage guidelines for products you have in your pantry, refrigerator and freezer. You even get an alert when items are nearing their recommended storage date.
3. Too Good to Go
Restaurants often have fresh food left when they close for the day and they don't enjoy throwing it out. This app allows you to take it home and enjoy a yummy meal for next to nothing and no it's not leftovers, it fresh food! Just log in, choose a restaurant and buy! It’s super easy. Then the restaurants give you a time window to come pick up the meal.
