EAST LANSING, Mich. — A major intersection is closing down beginning Monday for the next several weeks.

Starting Monday the city of East Lansing is closing down the Michigan Avenue and Harrison Road intersection.

The intersection is right by the Kellogg Center and several residence halls on MSU's campus.

City crews will be doing underground work in that area.

The work is part of the city's over $9 million project to upgrade the city's underground sewer system that began in March.

During the work Harrison Road going in both directions will not be able to go through the intersection.

Drivers will be able to turn onto Michigan Avenue.

The work is expected to last six weeks.

Road work along Michigan Avenue will also begin Monday.

It's happening from Harrison Road to Highland Avenue.

There will be lane closures in place, but one lane of traffic going in each direction will stay open with the exception of three weekend closures starting next month.
