A Michigan-based grocery store chain is making the season bright for people.
Meijer surprised dozens of customers as they were checking out last weekend, by telling them all their purchases have been paid for.
The gifting event took place at each of Meijer's 230 stores, with shopping carts ranging from $400 to upwards of more than $1,000 in value.
In addition to getting all their purchases for free, they were also given a $100 gift card to help pass along the generosity to someone who may need it.
The cashiers who rang up the purchases also got a $100 gift card.
This was the third year for the "Very Merry Meijer" event.
