Halloween is just around the corner, and neighbors across the country are already getting in the holiday spirit. Nextdoor [nextdoor.com], the neighborhood social network, wanted to know how Americans planned to celebrate this year, so we surveyed over 2,000 of our neighbors.

From most popular costumes, to favorite tasty treats, check out the #1 trends of Halloween 2018 (and see full list below):

Favorite candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (followed by Kit Kats and Snickers)

Most popular way to celebrate: Trick-or-treating (followed by costume parties and scary movie marathons)

Top trending costume: A witch (followed by a cat and zombie)

Haunted Houses?: 67% of America’s neighbors say yes please!

To add to the festivities, neighbors can add themselves to Nextdoor’s Treat Map [nextdoor.com] to plan a safe and efficient trick-or-treating route.

Neighbors can mark their home with a candy corn icon to indicate they are passing out candy; a haunted house icon to indicate they're giving neighbors a spooky thrill; or - new this year - a teal pumpkin icon to tell neighbors they'll be passing out allergy-free treats.
