East Lansing police are stepping up patrols near MacDonald Middle School after reports of a man approaching a student on Monday.
According to the Lansing State Journal, the student said she was leaving basketball practice when a man driving a red Chrysler 300 stopped and told her he was an Uber driver and asked if she had called for a ride.
The girl then walked away and got into another car.
East Lansing police can't say for sure if this was an attempted crime or a miscommunication.
