3 Unique Degrees for College Students

and last updated

About 150 million college students worldwide have made their way back to class this week. Nearly one-third of them have no idea what they want to major in, so we’re here to help with some very strange, yet very real degrees.

1. Beer

Got a passion for beer? Appalachian State University in North Carolina offers a full degree in Fermentation Sciences. Let’s be honest though, it’s a lot harder than just cracking open a cold one. If you want to move forward in this field, be prepared to take a lot of chemistry and biology classes. You’ll get hands-on experience at the Ivory Tower Brewery, the on-campus brewery managed by students and faculty.

2. Auctioneering

Next, you can get a degree in auctioneering from Harrisburg Area Community College. It’s the first step in becoming a licensed auctioneer in Pennsylvania. This class is about more than just talking really, really, really fast. It’s about finding the most auctionable merchandise, using the best appraisal sources, and then learning the auctioneer chants.

3. Diving

Finally, we found a dream job for beach bums. Florida Keys Community College offers a degree in Diving, Business and Technology. This school leads the way for aspiring dive masters, SCUBA instructors, and underwater photojournalists.

Now’s the time to dive into a whole new curriculum.
