Drivers across the state are expected to see a major drop in the average gas price.

According to AAA Michigan, prices fell 12 cents compared to a week ago, down to $2.48 per gallon. That's the same as last month at this time, but 41 cents more than this time last year.

For metro Detroit, gas dropped seven cents to $2.52 per gallon, 43 cents more than this time last year.

Ann Arbor, metro Detroit and Jackson are seeing the highest average price at $2.54, $2.52 and $2.51.

Grand Rapids, Traverse City and Saginaw are seeing the lowest averages at $2.43, $2.33 and $2.42 respectively.

"Growing stocks amid lower demand have helped ease pump prices," said Adrienne Woodland a spokesperson for AAA.
