CBT to present Cinderella ballet

Children’s Ballet Theatre of Michigan is pleased to present the perennial fairy tale favorite C?inderella. Creative Director Gregory M. George will transform Holt High School Theatre into a grand ballroom on Friday, May 6th ?and Saturday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. and again Sunday, May 8th at 2:00 p.m. Audience members should plan to purchase tickets early at www.cbtdance.org?.

‘A?udiences of all ages will be dazzled by the classical fairy tale ballet C?inderella.?Its admirable themes of kindness and hope have mesmerized children and adults for hundreds of years. Watching the story come alive through the artistic performances of these talented dancers in elaborate costumes will encourage audiences to dream their dreams and offer kindess to those around them," said Board Chair Michelle Renfrew.

Set to the music of Prokofiev, this two act, full length ballet begins with Cinderella's dark days by the kitchen fireplace. We see charactersasyoungchildrenandglimpseCinderella'slifebeforehermotherdies.Later,news spreads throughout the kingdom that the prince will choose his bride at the ball. Cinderella is left behind as her stepmother and stepsisters attend the ball with hopes of catching his attention. She is surprised by a visit from her fairy god mother who transforms her for the ball where the unrecognizable beauty captures the heart of the prince. Fleeing at the stroke of midnight, Cinderella leaves a heartbroken prince and a single slipper in her wake. Slipper in hand, will the prince ever find this captivating stranger who holds his heart?

CBT is a premiere audition based company comprised of over 50 dancers ages 818 who reside throughout Michigan. Cinderella will be played by Okemos senior Brianna Renfrew. The stepsisters are played by Allie Cates and Meredith Bolton. Tara Fedewa portrays the GodmotherandKatrinaGrangerwillplaytheStepMother.
