The nominations for the 88th annual Academy Awards were announced Thursday morning. Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, actor John Krasinski and directors Guillermo Del Toro and Ang Lee announced the full list of winners during a press conference. Chris Rock will be hosting the show on February 28th.
1. Most Nominations
Leonardo DiCaprio's latest movie, The Revenant, had the most nominations with 12.
2. Star Wars Snub
To much of everyone's surprise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens didn't receive a nomination for Best Picture. The movie brought in $820 billion dollars and still growing. The film was nominated for 5 awards in technical categories like sound and editing.
3. First Nomination for Brie Larson
The actress starred in the movie Room and was nominated for Best Actress!
4. "See You Again" Snub
The popular song from Furious 7 by Wiz Kalifa and Charlie Puth didn't get the nomination for best song. "Earned It," from Fifty Shades of Grey and "Writings on the Wall" from Spectre were nominated.
