Bicyclist dead after crash with car on Cedar street

LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) — Monday morning a crash involving at car and a bicyclist occurred near the intersection of Cedar st and Miller rd in Lansing.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. officers from the Lansing Police Department (LPD) were called to the area near Cedar st and Miller rd after one car, heading south on Cedar, collided with a bicycle and its 31-year-old male rider heading east from Miller. The crash occurred near the intersection.

The Bike rider was transported to local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators at the scene were able to determine that the bicyclist entered the roadway on a red light. The driver of the car has cooperated with police and is not thought to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at this time.

Investigators are on the scene as the investigation is ongoing. LPD shut down Cedar st while they investigate and remove debris, and the street remains closed near Edgewood.
