Sometimes, going to the doctor’s office can be a scary place for children. To help take that fear away, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s Teddy Bear Hospital will be at the Teddy Bear Picnic at Michigan State University.

The Teddy Bear Hospital gives children the chance to interact with medical professionals in a friendly, fun and non-threatening setting.

The event will be held Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the field across from the MSU Clinical Center at 804 Service Road. Kids will be able to take their furry friends through different specialty care stations to simulate a rea-life hospital experience.

The event also helps the medical profession prepare on how to effectively work with younger patients. At the event, there will also be medical students volunteering, and this will provide them an opportunity to work with children and learn how to communicate more effectively with them.

The event is free for the public.
