Canadian Nick Horvath said security guards who kicked him out after he threw the octopus said he was banned for life, and he was also given a misdemeanor ticket.
On Wednesday night, Horvath said he finally spoke with a Red Wings official who said there was no such ban.
"I've been trying to get ahold of these guys all week and I got ahold of them today," he said. "The guy chuckled, and he said, 'we don't even have a banning policy, how could you be banned? You're not banned, come back."
Horvath says the team wants to compensate him for the error, but he said he wants to donate whatever they give him to charity because he feels bad for all the headache he caused when he thought he was banned.
He also plans to donate his own memorabilia if the Red Wings don't step up.
