LCC names Distinguished Alumnus

The Lansing Community College (LCC) Alumni Association has selected James J. Kost as the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for 2016. 

Kost is Associate Broker and Office Manager at Coldwell Banker Hubbell BriarWood, Lansing (CBHB). He is one of the top-producing agents in the Greater Lansing area and has earned multiple local and national franchise awards. For the past three years, CBHB has ranked him in the top 1 percent of all 82,000 CBHB agents in North America. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Kost has displayed exceptional service and leadership at local, state and national levels. He has been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels since 2000, a lunch server at the City Rescue Mission of Lansing since 2012, and on the Salvation Army Advisory Board since 1999, serving as board chair for the past five years. 

Kost received his Associate degree in Social Science from Lansing Community College in 1974 and Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Michigan State University in 1976. 

The award will be presented during LCC’s 2016 Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 2 p.m., at MSU’s Jack Breslin Student Events Center. He will be honored at a special award reception on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 4 p.m., in the Paula D. Cunningham Administration Building on LCC’s main campus.

The Distinguished Alumni Award was established to honor outstanding alumni who achieve a high level of professional accomplishments and made significant personal contributions through their involvement in community service.
