A Wexford County, Michigan mother is facing life in prison for a fire that destroyed a motel and severely injured her two boys in May.

Police say Amanda Skardoutos, 37, was making hash oil at Green Mill Motel in Manton when the butane oil caused an explosion. In addition to drug and child abuse charges, police are now charging her with arson — which carries a life sentence.

Her sons, ages 11 and 13, were badly burned, and are still receiving medical care. Immediately after the incident, the eldest son was critical.

Skardoutos was also badly injured in the explosion.
