A post on a state senator's Facebook referring to violence in Detroit is sparking controversy on the social media platform.

"I'm headed to Detroit for a meeting today. Before anyone asks: Yes I have a CPL," Sen. Rick Jones wrote in a Facebook status he posted Tuesday.

CPL stands for concealed pistol license. Some people left comments criticizing Jones. He responded by saying everyone should be prepared to defend themselves.

We'll have more on this story Tuesday night on News 10 at 11 p.m.
