A homeless man told Lansing Township police he was attacked by a knife-wielding man on the River Trail Monday night.

He said he was walking with a friend near where Clippert Street dead-ends into the trail when the attacker came out of a wooded area swinging a Swiss army knife.

He says he ran to the Admiral gas station at the corner of Clippert and Kalamazoo Street.

Police brought out a K9 unit but couldn't find the attacker.

The victim was treated for a knife wound to the neck. He is expected to be fine.

He described the suspect as a black man between 30 and 35-years-old, about 5'11" and 175 pounds with a beard.
He was wearing a black hooded jacket and camo pants.
