The elections are only a few months away. To help college students get registered, the Secretary of State’s Mobile Office will travel 3,000 miles to 18 colleges.
The Mobile Office’s tour will start Wednesday at Wayne State University, and conclude at the University of Michigan on Oct. 11, which is the deadline to register to vote in the November election.
“The 3,000-mile 2016 Voter Registration Drive is a great way to give college students easy access to our services, especially registering to vote,” said Secretary of State Ruth Johnson. “We’re also happy to answer questions and to assist anyone who needs our any of our services. Please stop by to take care of your Secretary of State business, right on site.”
In addition to voter registration, the Mobile Office will also offer the services of a traditional office. Students will be able to change their address, renew their driver’s license, get tags and sign up for the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.
“Registering to vote is a vital activity every citizen should complete,” said David Strauss, dean of students at Wayne State University. “We are thrilled to host the Secretary of State Mobile Office to help our students, faculty, and staff take care of all their secretary of state needs, including registering to vote, right here on-campus.”
