The Detroit Tigers announced Sunday that Jordan Zimmermann will be the starting pitcher for the team's season opener Thursday in Toronto.
Zimmermann was also Detroit's opening day starter in 2018.
In five spring training starts this season, Zimmermann is 1-1 with a 5.19 ERA, 21 strikeouts, and four walks.
Zimmermann started 25 games in 2018, going 7-8 with a 4.52 ERA, 111 strikeouts, and 26 walks.
