Rod Wood was a busy man on Wednesday night.

The Lions president handed out preseason game tickets to first responders at the team's practice.

One person much busier stood to his right: Kelly Stafford, wife of Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

The Staffords donated tickets to the first responders invited to watch practice.

"Kelly and Matthew approached us and said, 'We'd like to do this,' and it was a great idea," Wood said. "I know the folks were appreciating the gesture."

Every firefighter, EMT worker, and police officer in line received a ticket to one of the team's preseason games. 1,500 first responders from Detroit, Dearborn, and Allen Park were privately invited.

Kelly and Wood handed out the tickets before the Lions began practice.

"I kind of joked with Kelly, I was going a little faster than her, but I was taking less selfies with the fans than she was," he laughed.
