Multi-county investigation leads to arrest of Detroit man for distributing, possessing child porn

A Detroit man was arrested following an under cover investigation that revealed he was allegedly in possession of and distributing child porn.

The multi-county investigation was led by the Michigan State Police, Computer Crimes Unit, and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.  

Nicholas Thaier Mukhtar, 29, was arrested on Friday Nov. 9 after he sent child sexually abusive material to detectives during online chats.

Police say during the arrest, "devices and evidence pertaining to the investigation were located" at the suspect's residence.

Mukhtar is charged with two counts of child sexually abusive material (distribution), two counts of child sexually abusive material (possession), two counts of communicating with another to commit felony and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

The suspect was arraigned in 36th District Court on Nov. 11, and was issued a $75,000 bond.
