Shooter comes forth in fatal shooting

LANSING, Mich. — Lansing police are reporting that the teen who shot and killed 18-year-old Adam Barnett turned himself in.

Anthony Gonzalo Gonzales, 17 from Lansing, was charged on October 29.

He turned himself in later that day to the 54-A District Court and was arraigned in front of Magistrate Millmore on one count of Weapons – Firearms – Careless Discharge Causing Injury or Death.

It happened on October 20 in the 100 block of W. Fairfield at approximately 11:09 in the morning.

Police officers responded to a report of the shooting and upon arrival found 18-year-old Adam Echmyre Barnett with a gunshot wound.

Barnett later died of his injuries at a local hospital.

Gonzales is next scheduled in 54-A District court in front of Judge Buchanan on:
Probable Cause Conference: November 7th @ 1:00 p.m.
Preliminary Exam: November 14th @ 8:30 a.m.
