The Lansing River Trail is getting a facelift.

The city of Lansing started work on a nearly four month long renovation project Wednesday. The first phase is repairing the pathway between North Grand River and the Turner Dodge House.

Bridges along the Red Cedar River near Potter Park and sections of asphalt will also be replaced. There will be detours, but the city says it'll be worth it in the long run. Brett Kaschinske, Director of Lansing Parks and Recreation said, "Folks know that we are in need of repairs on this, whether it be fresh asphalt, everybody likes to bike and rollerblade on that fresh pathway. The bridges too, we want to make sure these are safe for folks, people are really excited."

Detours will be posted on the Lansing River Trail website.

The project is expected to finish up by December 1st.
