An update now on a controversial school bus ride and the bus video a former student is demanding be released to the public.
In a statement from the Northwest School District in Jackson County, they say it has not been served with any lawsuit to release that video under the Freedom of Information Act.
Adding that no law has been violated.
News 10 first told you about the bus ride last month after parents complained to the district and police about alleged driver misconduct.
The children complained they were punished by the driver for misbehaving, claiming the driver turned the heat on during a hot day.
The district says the driver told students to put up the windows because they were sticking their hands out of them and that the heat was never turned on.
Now, a former student is calling on the district to release surveillance video from on-board the bus.
Lee Belding is suing Northwest Community Schools over the bus video. He said, "Everyone has their opinions on this incident, some good some bad, and the only people who know for certain are the people that were on that bus, so we really need to put this thing to rest by retrieving a copy of this video."
The driver no longer drives for Northwest Schools.
The district says it will remain as transparent as it can under federal and state laws.
Last month, a police investigation was turned over to the Jackson County prosecutor.
