The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is warning residents to avoid eating fish caught in the Huron River due to continued PFAS contamination.
As the weather warms up, more people will head out fishing along the riverfront, but officials say elevated levels of contamination have been tested and found in the fish.
The orginial 'Do not eat' advisory was issued back in August 2018 within Oakland and Washtenaw counties.
Other bodies of water include Hubbell Pond, Kent Lake, Strawberry and Zukey Lake, Gallagher Lake, Loon Lake and Whitewood Lakes.
Touching fish or swimming in these bodies of water is not a health concern, since the chemicals do not move easily through the skin, health officials say.
