Detectives are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a teenage victim riding her bicycle home in Washington Township. The 15-year-old girl says she feared for her life after being struck.

“I was riding home from the custard shop and felt them bump into me then knock me over. They drove away right after, and I ran behind the bushes to hide” said Molly Klein.

She then got help from a neighbor who called 911.

Her mother Lori says she was terrified, and the person responsible needs to be caught.

“Molly has suffered injuries to her thumb, elbow and knees” Lori said. “I’m so grateful she wasn’t hurt worse.”

The incident took place Sunday evening at the intersection of Pilgrim and Norway. The area is home to many families with children. Molly says the vehicle used to strike her was an older model, light colored SUV.

Macomb County detectives are working hard on the case. If you have any information that could help, please call them right away.
