A woman who smokes while pregnant may affect her granddaughters risk of autism.

Researchers looked at 14,000 children born in the UK during the 90's. Girls who's maternal grandmother smoked while pregnant had an increased risk of an autism diagnosis. Others were more likely to develop poor communication skills or repetitive behaviors.

Experts think that if a baby girl is exposed to cigarette smoke in the womb, it may affect her developing eggs.  That, in turn, may effect her own future children.
