ST. JOHNS, MI – Six retired Nurses, most from Sparrow Clinton Hospital, are paying homage to Nurses who have dedicated their professional lives to delivering healthcare in Clinton County by forming an Honor Guard.

Dressed in full white attire with caps and capes, Maralyn Woodbury, LPN; Doris Jablowski, RN; Chris Leavitt, RN; Marge Minarik, RN; Janet Pline, RN; and Denise Plowman, RN, attend the funerals of local Nurses, performing a short ceremony.

“It is a very emotional service because nursing is more than a job – it is a calling,” says Woodbury. “These compassionate individuals have dedicated their lives to caring for the sick during the most vulnerable times in their lives.”

The free service is available in St Johns, Fowler, Pewamo, Westphalia, Ovid, Elsie, and Maple Rapids. Brochures are available at area funeral homes.

“We thank the families of Nurses for allowing our Nurse Honor Guard to offer our final farewell tribute to those who dedicated their lives in service of others,” adds Woodbury. “We hope families and friends will find comfort in the small ceremony.”

To request a service, call Woodbury at 989.224.7963 or Plowman at 989.593.3460 or speak with your local funeral director.
