In December, the most recent expansion at AL!VE opened, providing additional programming and services, including both clinical and recreational options for the mid-Michigan community.

“To make room for our growing rehabilitation services and recreational needs, we expanded our workout and locker room spaces to better accommodate patients, guest and MOVE members,” said Jacob Campbell, AL!VE director of health and wellness services. “The facility updates have given us the opportunity to increase adult and children’s program offerings, as well as opportunities for event rentals and to create unique meeting experiences for a variety of businesses and organizations.”

A new group workout space called ENERGIZE was added featuring a cushioned aerobic floor, projection screen and a drop ceiling for better sound quality.

“What’s not to like about ENERGIZE?” asked Cheryl Jackson, AL!VE group exercise instructor. “I have been so excited about the opportunity to teach in this new space. (Group exercise) participants are thrilled with the large fan, mirrors and fabulous acoustics. After 30-plus years of training, I believe we have hit the jackpot on a cutting-edge studio.” Jackson currently teaches the Tabata Bootcamp and Cardio Blast classes, as well as LeBarre. New group exercise classes were recently added to the schedule including POUND, RIPPED and Turbo Kick.

Adding a dedicated group exercise room frees up SOAR, the multi-purpose gym and the largest space at AL!VE, for additional recreational programming as well as the opportunity to be rented as a unique meeting and activity venue. SOAR also features ASCEND, a 24-foot rock climbing wall. It is the only local rock climbing wall that is open at designated times for no charge.

GROW, the children’s recreational and enrichment area, also expanded offerings for children ages 8 to 12, including CHILL, a dedicated space for homework and games.

“AL!VE is truly a community gathering space that has been supported and ‘brought alive’ by various local businesses, organization and supporters, such as the Charlotte Rotary Club, Sparrow Hospital and Spartan Motors,” said Patrick Sustrich, AL!VE executive director. “Visitors are surveyed annually, and programs, services and activities are continually added and updated to ensure we are providing health and well-being experiences desired by a majority of the regional community. “

For those interested in learning more about AL!VE and its integrated array of services, the next community open house is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 20, and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21.
