MSU Spartan Performance is furthering its mission to provide nutrition education to low-income student athletes throughout the state by developing a new video series as part of its ongoing partnership with MSU Extension and SNAP-Ed.

Topics covered in the new videos include nutrition basics, timing of intake for optimal performance, athlete performance plates, energy balance, hydration and nutrition supplements.

The eight video series is a free resource aimed at supporting tech-savvy athletes and individuals who want to learn more about sports nutrition.

“The videos are a way to complement our sports performance and nutrition education program and provide a digital reference for coaches, parents and athletes to use anywhere and anytime,” said RJ Gibbs, research associate and program coordinator of the project. “The videos are short 3-5 minute clips that provide easy-to-follow guidance to improve the health and performance of the young athlete.”
