A report of a sexual assault that caused Michigan State University to issue an MSU Alert on September 9 turned out to be false according to police.

The report claimed the assault happened close to the intersection of Crescent Road and Middlevale Road near Spartan Village in East Lansing. The report said police were looking for three black man in their early 20s.
