The Williamston Area Chamber of Commerce is holding its 17th Annual Light Parade on Saturday, December 7, 2013. The parade steps off at 6 pm, with illuminated floats and vehicles, marching band, animals, and more! David Andrews of WILX TV, and Mark Buzzitta of 89.7 FM WLNZ, will be announcing the parade. Grand Marshal is Williamston Mayor Jim DeForest.

After the parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus will help with the lighting of the tree in front of City Hall, 161 East Grand River in downtown. The kids will want to bring their lists and visit with Santa immediately after the tree lighting. They will be in Keller’s Plaza, 107 South Putnam.

Activities are being added every day, but here are a few: kiddie ferris wheel and carnival games, make a glass paperweight, the Annual “Fill the Williamston Cop Car”, music, toy drive, used book sale at the Community Center, live theatre, animal shelter drive, movie theatre, and much more! There are extended holiday shopping hours with many businesses offering popcorn, hot cocoa, hot cider, etc. Come early and browse around town!

The event is free to attend, and it is free to have an entry in the parade. This is a great way to get word out about your service organization, business, church, or just a great way to have fun! There are entry awards in seven categories: Best Animal Entry, Best Commercial Entry, Best Decorated Vehicle, Best Musical Entry, First Time Award, Most Unique, and Spirit of Christmas. Applications are available at www.williamston.org, or by contacting the Chamber office.

We look forward to seeing you in Williamston! Contact the Williamston Area Chamber of Commerce at 517-655-1549, info@williamston.org, Facebook.
