'Mamma Mia' Contest Brings Extra Fun to Lansing's First Fridays
First Fridays, MLive and The Wharton Center are in collaboration this First Friday through November 11 to bring the Greater Lansing area a fun-for-the-whole-family contest
LANSING, Mich.,— On Friday, November 1, 2013, the Greater Lansing area will be once again rolling out the red carpet for First Fridays. First Fridays is a unique and fun event that brings all businesses and residents of Greater Lansing together for a fun time out on the town.
First Fridays, MLive and The Wharton Center are in collaboration this First Friday through November 11 to bring the Greater Lansing area a fun-for-the-whole-family contest. The contest is called “Where’s Mamma Mia?” and has participants using clues to find businesses on a scavenger hunt in order to win tickets to the November 15 performance of Mamma Mia.
Participants will read the clues that can be found on lansingfirstfridays.com, MLive.com/winwharton or on Facebook and Twitter. Once the clue is figured out, race to the Mama Mia logo and use the code, location and web address to enter. Winners will take home two tickets to the November 15 show, ear-buds and a speaker case. The contest runs now through November 11.
First Fridays is also excited to promote The Coffee Barrel in Holt. The Coffee Barrel will be hosting an Open Mic Night. The venue is family-friendly and a great way to enjoy a night out with loved ones or friends. There will be a variety of performers who love to sing original songs and covers. The event is from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Mention First Fridays to receive a free specialty latte with purchase of a specialty latte of equal or lesser value.
As always, the First Fridays event encourages restaurants, galleries, shops and family events in the Greater Lansing area to feature extended hours, special events, unique specials, extended hours and entertainment. First Fridays’ goal is to help people to explore everything that Greater Lansing has to offer.
MSU Federal Credit Union and Team Lansing have worked together to provide free CATA bus services from 7:00pm until the end of regular service on First Fridays, including fixed-route buses and Spec-Tran. This initiative was started to help make First Fridays affordable for everyone. The Entertainment Express trolleys will also be free beginning at 5:30pm. Entertainment Express Trolleys run from downtown Lansing to downtown East Lansing every half hour until 3:00am.
First Fridays is one of a kind because of its wide range of events and activities. First Fridays provides family-friendly activities, specials for a night on the town, and specials for the everyday needs of Greater Lansing.
