Fans of the popular local food truck The Purple Carrot will be able to enjoy Tony Maiale's food year-round with the opening of his and Nina Santucci's first restaurant, Red Haven.

It was announced in the food truck's Weekly Carrot newsletter Friday that the official opening date is set for Tuesday, October 16th.

Red Haven is a farm to table concept, celebrating local vendors and farmers with a tapas-style menu. The restaurant will serve local wines and Michigan craft spirits.

Owners Santucci and Maiale purchased space for the restaurant at Hagadorn and Mt. Hope roads, within the Hamptons apartment complex. Construction and design of the restaurant includes repurposed wood and other local touches to give an elegant, personal dining experience.

Along with running the food truck since early 2011, Santucci and Maiale have catered several local events and weddings in the area, expanding their businesses and hiring new team members as they grew.
