Joining the National Center for Fathering initiative, Willow Elementary School in Lansing is adopting the WATCH D.O.G.S program.

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a father involvement program that has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Willow Elementary is implementing this initiative in hopes of providing an opportunity for the development of relationships with the father and father figures of its students. Their goal is to provide positive role models and increase male volunteer participation within the community.

In the past, Willow Elementary School has held two father support group events called "Donuts for Dads." These events gave dads and father figures the opportunity to come out, enjoy coffee, share ideas and goals for the community, as well as provide them with the information of how to get more deeply involved in the educational life of their students.

Willow Elementary School is officially implementing the Watch D.O.G.S program on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 8:30AM. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the ceremony. For questions, please contact Principal Mr. Steve Lonzo at Willow Elementary at 517-755-1680.
