A service that helps struggling pet owners could use some help of its own. The Ingham County Animal Shelter is running low on food for its pet food pantry, because of lots of requests for help.

Both dog and cat food is needed, and it doesn't matter if it's wet or dry food.

"We have quite a few of low income families in Lansing currently that need assistance with dog food or cat food.  This allows them to keep their pets at home as opposed to having them surrendered to the shelter."

If you can help out, drop of your donations at the shelter in Mason, or the new animal outreach center on Saginaw in Lansing.
