Gift Idea: Then and Now Photos
Inspired by photographer Irina Werning's "Back to the Future" project I stumbled onto last year, I decided to recreate a photo from my childhood with my younger brother as a Father's Day present.

I chose a photo that has been a favorite in our family, and what made it fun was that I still have the stuffed bear I've had my whole life. Even though the bedroom set and sheets and clothes weren't the same, having an artifact from that time in the photo gave it continuity and an anchor.
Some of my most favorite examples of this "then and now" photo project are when the item of clothing is the exact same, or even the lack of clothing.
The same expression and mood of the photo is also key.
I love how this turned out, and I'm looking forward to trying it again with other family, friends, or even as a portrait.
The best thing about the "then and now" photo is that the longer you wait in terms of time between the photographs, the better and more poignant the pairing will be.
