Local Charities Benefit from "A Little Boy's Prayer" Production
LANSING, MI—This weekend the cast and crew of “A Little Boy’s Prayer”, presented by Mount Hope Church of Lansing, will use the arts to strengthen Lansing families and help find “forever homes” for the numerous Michigan children in need of a permanent family. The weekend Christmas production also provides opportunity for families to gather in benefit of select local charities.
Charities like St. Vincent Catholic Charities Children’s Services, who recently exhibited their children’s art thanks to Old Town’s “Absolute Gallery,” in hopes of finding forever families for the children whose art was on display. Bethany Christian Services, “Safe Families for Children” which provides hope for parents in need of temporary placement for their children due to unmanageable or critical circumstances. Bethany’s licensed professionals and family coaches work with local churches to identify safe families for children and families in crisis, often due to economic hardships. The West-Michigan based non-profit hopes to spread the “Safe Families for Children” network across Mid-Michigan in the early part of 2013.
The “A Little Boy’s Prayer” production will provide gifts and care packages to the almost 1,000 children being cared for by these local Mid-Michigan organizations. There is still a consistent need for practical gifts such as twin bedding, linens, and sundries says St. Vincent’s Catholic Charities. Attending the “A Little Boy’s Prayer” production coming to Mount Hope Church is one way community members can respond as proceeds from ticket sales will go to support these charities.
